Music

Our music program gives students a chance to learn music fundamentals, try out a variety of instruments, engage in performance experiences, and provides our students with an outlet for creative expression.  Music in schools proves an abundance of benefits for our students. Music helps improve memory, attention, and concentration. Learning to play an instrument or sing can boost students' ability to process information, recall facts, and focus on tasks. Music students often perform better in subjects like math and reading. This is because music involves patterns, rhythms, and structures that align with the skills needed in these academic areas. Music brings together all subjects including reading, math, science, social studies, and language learning. Music provides an outlet for students to express their emotions, which is especially beneficial for mental health. It allows them to explore their feelings in a creative way. Music exposes students to diverse cultures, genres, and historical contexts. It broadens their worldview and helps them appreciate global traditions and artistic expressions.

Here at Ivy Stockwell, each student is provided with one concert experience each year.  In addition, Mrs. Brandner offers a seasonal before-school choir, “Stallions Sing!”  for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. PTO provides a talent show each year for all students who want to shine in the spotlight.  Please reach out to Mrs. Brandner if you would like more information about Ivy’s music program.
